As a leftist, I find them annoying because they make me look like an idiot by association.
Quite possibly a luddite.

50/50 leftists and Russian troll farms or worse, by any charitable outside evaluation.
Full beards are great. I can go a week without any maintenance and still look presentable. Any other style of facial hair is just too much effort.
I think zoomers are young enough not to have the generational memory of how creepy mustaches are, so suddenly they’re cool again. I’m afraid it’ll last until the zoomers are old enough to be the creepy ones.
Super Mario. It’s been milked for what it’s worth and more, but whenever there’s a new Mario game you just know it’s going to be good.
I’m currently experimenting with Seppo for my website, which is… not ready yet. So maybe not the greatest suggestion. But development is happening fast, and I like it for a couple of reasons.
Basic functionality such as editing and deleting posts does not work yet, so it’s absolutely not ready for primetime. But it’s a project worth following, especially for those of us with an interest in the social web.
Edit: I guess this would be more if you wanted to create a basic website yourself, and add a tool for content management to it. I read the post a bit too quickly - if you’re not interested in writing some code there are much better options to go for out there. Seppo I think is nice for those who actively want to tinker a bit. :)
Yeah, US cutting its unconditional support to Israel was overdue decades ago. Howevers, as long as the rest of the political landscape doesn’t follow, Biden acting unilaterally and publicly just amounts to political suicide with no gain for anyone.
Israel/US relations were at an all-time low under Biden already before the attack, and there’s every indication he’s using every back channel he has to make Netanyahu slow down his genocide. Sometimes diplomatic solutions are more efficient than a public Circus.
I think these people are more typically from troll farms than genuinely pro-Palestine, but some of theme probably are that stupid as well. I guess it’s a mixed bag.
It did create a bit of a splash back when Mastodon got together and played a huge part in saving the Texas Observer.
As for being used of a source of what random people are talking about, I think that’s further off for three reasons:
I got it this year! Most wonderful time of the year indeed!
Sounds amazing!
An Argentinian friend told me she felt some of their Christmas food was a bit strange, as it was a lot of heavy food that you’d otherwise never eat in summer but that’s eaten anyway because it’s associated with Christmas. Does this fit your experience?
It’s ten below where I am, and I certainly wouldn’t mind being served up that dish haha
Slow cooked pork ribs with boiled potatoes and sour cabbage. It’s a tradition to the point of pretty much being mandated by law at this point.
Been listening to this lately, loving it. Always keeps it entertaining, stays true to the discipline, and I’m always learning a lot.
Is this basically the people acting out the lyrics of Johnny Cash’s Cry! Cry! Cry!?
It seems like a reasonable stance, but I’m just confused by how often you could possibly have people forecasting your downfall. I mean, unless you’re secretly a leader of a country currently engaged in war crimes or something.
In my experience it’s not so much about putting a limit as it is about avoiding takers and finding other givers. But one has to be careful not to be used. :)
I appreciate your point, but you should really consider emphasizing the point of your comment using bold text. It would make it easier to read.
This is already supported in kbin! Press your icon in the top right corner and enter the settings, and select the languages you’re interested in under the “Filter languages of threads and posts” setting (somewhat counter-intuitively under the “Appearance” heading). Seems to be working great for me at least :)
At least where I’m from, the teenagers are beginning to shy away from emojis as well, with the exception of one or two that are considered culturally acceptable. Which ones they are seems to fluctuate, so if you’re out of the loop you’re better off not trying.
Honestly, I think this might be on to something. RFK jr was not always a lunatic - before he went insane he did some truly great things in his career. He then gradually made a turn for the worse, ending up as the mentally insane candidate we know today. It honestly explains his political platform pretty well.
It also reminds me of that great infowars interview with a Sanders supporter (correctly?) observing that they have worms in their brains.
