It was a red line that even most Republicans didn’t cross (except scum like Rush Limbaugh) until we had the gall to elect a black president. Then the kids became fair game.
The politicians didn’t, at least publicly. OP did include the qualifier “except scum like Rush” and that’s who immediately springs to mind when someone brings up Chelsea being trashed.
