Already embroiled in a tense legal standoff with the White House, CNN is threatening further action in the courts if its journalists continue to be denied access to Air Force One and the “pool” of journalists who accompany President Donald Trump when he travels.
The network has been entangled in legal action with Trump’s administration ever since the president issued its reporters a sudden ban from White House grounds a month ago, along with those from MS NOW and Politico, calling their content “fake news.” Last week, a federal judge granted the news outlets their request for a preliminary injunction against the government ban as the case moves through the legal system.
But that only addresses part of the problem.
The White House has continued to bar CNN from taking its place in TV pool coverage of Trump’s travel on Air Force One. And so the network may need to take additional action, said Theodore J. Boutrous Jr., an attorney for CNN, in a letter to Justice Department attorney Michael K. Velchik.

I mean, it’s the correct course of action. Technically. But he’ll just ignore it again. Who do they think will enforce it against him.
CNN is just a derelict zombie that doesn’t realize it’s dead yet. To the cult it’s the Clinton News Network. To everyone else is completely billionaire captured and untrustworthy. It’s too late now. But if CNN were still independent and viable. They should abandon access journalism. And just report honestly on trump till he tries to shut them down illegally. At least they could go out actually fighting on their own terms. Bit they’re just going to keep repeating the same actions. Expecting different results.
Add it to the pile of everything showing the US Marshall Service should be moved under the Judicial branch, to enforce court orders directly, instead of relying on the Executive to do so, and the Legislative for accountability if not.
As it is, the Judicial can do literally nothing. There is no check and balance is the other two branches want to just ignore them.
They should abandon access journalism. And just report honestly on trump till he tries to shut them down illegally.
Amen. They all should have been doing that from the start. They’re just as complicit as the republicans as to what he’s done. They are all accomplices to murder if they kept silent.
Building moats is how every business exe makes money. Previously their moat was access. Now the moat is trying to be state media. “Just produce quality” is orthogonal to how they operated in the first place.
Capitulating to him really worked out, huh?
Republicans are just setting a precedent for when they are no longer in power. I look forward to the next president denying press passes to Fox News.
Democrats will always fall in line, I doubt that will happen.
The fact that any other orgs participate when he does this is sick. He’s clearly violating the court order, and they’re helping him get the attention he craves while he does it.
