I learned a new term today, “European-style Christianity”.

The study, published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, looked at cognitive factors while stripping out variables like demographics and education. It found that in the US, those who subscribe to the doctrine of Christian nationalism — characterized as a belief in strict social order, blurring of religion with a sense of civic belonging, and promotion of European-style Christianity — tend to correspond to a low level of cognitive ability.

Uh, let me guess. Red hats? Big trucks that aren’t used for hauling? Number one sport is cow tipping?

Using data from spanning from 1989 to 2024, the researcher cross-referenced scores on a cognitive vocabulary exercise with responses to questions about how important it is to be a Christian to be “truly American.”

There are many peoples who I could consider to be ‘truly American’ but I don’t think any of them were Cristian….

it suggests Christian nationalism (like religious fundamentalism or right-wing authoritarianism) is not the result of more sophisticated and complex ruminations on politics, religious ethics, and pluralism,”

    Lmao. lol. ROFL even.
