We’ve long believed that American politics would be a whole lot better if people like him – working folks who care for the land and their communities so well – were representing us.

And now he is. On Tuesday night, [regenerative farmer Jamie] Ager won the House race for North Carolina’s 11th congressional district, resoundingly flipping a Republican seat that Donald Trump won handily in 2024.

He wasn’t alone. Democrats tore into Republicans’ rural vote margins, wiping out almost half of Trump’s colossal 40-point advantage in 2024. Of the 21 most rural-populated states that held elections for US Senate, Democrats won in 10 of them, including states like Kansas, Mississippi and Iowa, all long surrendered to the Republican juggernaut.

Progressives are winning most of these races. Old guard Democrats are watching from the sidelines.

Establishment Dems are upset at progressive Dems for working hard to help the working class.

It’s all the more important to not let the likes of Schumer and Jeffries control the elections narrative. Most of us don’t want more of their excuses to do nothing and their AIPAC bullshit.

Get online and sign the online petitions (there are quite a few, with one having close to a million signatures), to remove Jeffries and Schumer from the party leadership. I honestly want Bernie running the Senate, or another progressive like him. Schumer and Jeffries are just paid off broke-dick do nothings. We need someone who will prosecute people in the Epstein files, not more “we’re going to play nice, because it’s safer that way” excuses for inaction. If Democrats want to keep the power they gained this week, they’d better start punishing the Epstein class. Otherwise, heads will roll (politically) come next November. We gave them a big chance to fix shit and end the criminality in DC, now, they either put up, or fuck off.

The campaign platforms of winning (or leading) candidates in red and purple states demonstrate a clear pattern: concrete economic issues of working and rural people were central.

In Kansas, Adam Hamilton’s “prairie populism” railed against the crushing costs of farming inputs, something Iowa’s Josh Turek also stressed. In Mississippi, Scott Colom emphasized the loss of labor and delivery departments in rural communities. Texas’s Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico both spoke out for rural schools against defunding and voucher programs. Keisha Lance Bottoms spoke openly about the rural-urban divide and her own roots in the Georgia countryside.

In South Carolina, Annie Andrews focused on kitchen table economics, rural healthcare and farmland preservation.

Sounds like they found different words to say “tariffs rob you” and “draconian abortion restrictions endanger all pregnant people and their doctors” and “for-profit healthcare neglects communities” and “stealing from public education to enrich religions and corporations cheats you and your children” and “high gas prices create high food prices” and “data centers steal and destroy farmland and watersheds.” Good for them. Whatever it takes to help people understand.

“Pregnancy should be between a woman and her doctor, not a woman and the government” has been a VERY effective line in my experience.

Also: “Rapists shouldn’t be allowed to choose the mother of their children”
