    I take the POV that given the size of the goddamn universe, to assume we are the only planet with life is the height of fucking hubris

      OK, sure… do you know how much nothing there is out there? The gap between us and the nearest star is 4.25 lightyears

      If there’s life out there, and they are capable of getting here, we don’t want them to come here. We don’t want to meet them. Imagine being an ant, and a human decides that they don’t want your anthill on their lawn… That’s basically where we’d be with them. If this is even remotely possible it is very bad news for us.
