minus-squaremosiacmango@lemm.eelinkfedilinkarrow-up7·3 months agoHaving to give on off advice to each child each time they are compelled to take a military aptitude test is much worse than not compelling that test.
minus-squareRivalarrival@lemmy.todaylinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·2 months agoIf it ever becomes forced, colleges and employers are going to expect to see scores. Absence of ASVAB results will be conspicuous.
minus-squarecapital@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 months agoI didn’t submit SAT (or equivalents) and still got accepted into several different colleges. I never finished because I’m a shit student but I’m also making over 240k with no degree. So, even now colleges and employers don’t care. Maybe higher tier colleges but I was never getting into those anyway.
minus-squareRivalarrival@lemmy.todaylinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·2 months agoACTs and SATs aren’t mandated. Students take them if they want to, just like the ASVAB now. If the SATs were mandated, employers and colleges would expect to see the scores.
minus-squarecapital@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·edit-22 months agoNo one asked to see my state standardized test scores either and those were mandatory to take. This is a bit of a slippery slope fallacy, I think. To be clear, I don’t think anyone should be forced to take the ASVAB.
