So I see lots of seats turning blue, does this mean for example that the democrats could finally be successful at impeaching trump? Or what is the significance, besides just being indicative of a general mood shift?

Yes they can. I think it requires more for actual removal but at the very least he won’t be running rampant and unchecked

It’s great though and means 2028 will hopefully go even more blue. Not all of the senate is up every election so it can only change so much

Holy shit, they might get a governor that doesn’t share intimate messages with elon musk over there.

I’m not overly emotional but I legit want to jump for joy and maybe even shed some happy tears that it looks all but confirmed I will wake up to a fully blue Texas state executive administration and a Senator. Talarico seemed like a lock, but I never imagined actually getting governor, LG, AG, & RR commish. This is insanity. Idk if I’ll be able to sleep

Can someone explain to this clueless European why Delaware has already been called for the Dems with what appears to be 0% of the votes counted?

They do exit polls on election day. It’s not enough to call an election alone, but combined with the other reasons such as turnout, you can be pretty confident.

Because they can see how many ballots have been cast in each area. Cities tend to have far more voters, and they tend to have far more Democrats than Republicans. If, for instance, voter turnout in Wilmington was extremely low, then maybe the rural simpletons living in bumfuck might even out the Democrats, but with high voter turnout, it isn’t possible for a dipshit to win in civilized states.

It’s the same way they called the Pennsylvania Governor race with like 2% of the votes counted. 80% of the votes are from Philly and Pittsburgh, and 80% of those voters are Democrats. That’s 64% of the vote before you count blue and purple areas like Scranton, Allentown, and the Philly suburbs. There’s basically no path to victory when everyone shows up to vote.

Honestly, considering Delaware’s population, you could probably just call it before the race started. Most of the Northeast is pretty blue, besides New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.

More detailed map data + stats available at 270towin dot com here. (*edit: i had no idea polymarket was so invasive. It wasnt this bad last cycle). These are the sites I’ve liked historically.

Not sure if anyone knows any other links for election night results.
