Well, who’s reelecting him then, Canadians? Do Americans believe that incumbents have an advantage because voters are too stupid to choose? Maybe the problem here isn’t the voters but the systems that have been built by the political machine? Why is it popular for American voters to want to limit their own power?
For every complex problem there is a solution that’s simple, elegant, easy to understand and wrong. Age/ Term limits make perfect sense, unless you think about them.

So, yes, I believe the average American voter has been brainwashed into thinking the average American voter is too stupid to choose, and that’s at least part of the reason it’s so hard to get people to care about democracy and tyranny and stuff like that.
Remember that you are really voting party, not person. The party puts forth a candidate. Most people will vote the party line regardless of who it is.

Set maximum age for public service to match the current retirement age. If you will hit that age during the scheduled term, you are deemed ineligible to seek that position.

I read that as whatever the retirement age currently is when the retirement rule is being evaluated. If it would be pegged to this moment and not move why not just say the specific number?

Well his current term ends in 2028. He’ll only be 95.
BUT He has already said he will run for yet another term, and if elected again (I’m not prepared to discount that possibility considering his margins in 2022), he’d be 101 by the end of that term.
