Summary

Linda McMahon, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Education, previously resigned from the Connecticut State Board of Education in 2009 after falsely claiming she held a degree in education.

McMahon, co-founder of WWE and former head of the Small Business Administration, holds a degree in French and a teaching certificate.

Her nomination has drawn criticism for her lack of public education experience and alignment with Trump’s policies, including rolling back LGBTQ+ protections under Title IX.

If confirmed, McMahon will oversee contentious student loan forgiveness battles and Trump’s push to dismantle the Department of Education.

Good news – a degree or experience is not a requisite in trump’s administration. If anything, it’s a liability.

Because it’s not about being qualified, it’s about-

      1. being loyal
      2. breaking the system so that the GOP can continue their “the government doesn’t work” talking points, and move everything to being privatized and controlled by donors ($$$)

I’m not sure you’re allowed to say the quiet parts out loud. It makes the people all uncomfortable. Like they think they might be the baddies. Please give me some feel-good propaganda.

Sorry! Privatizing education (because it’s $$$) has been on the GOP bucket list for years. It’s why they constantly bash teachers and their unions. It’s why we have trans rights as a social issue in schools first. It’s why they could care less about gun violence in schools. It’s why they are constantly trying to cut funding, putting conspiracy theorists on school boards, and banning books. And on and on.

It’s all about undercutting the public’s perception of public education, so when they try and do a hard steer to private schools people think “it can’t be any worse”. And they run it like Trump University and laugh all the way to the bank, and it’ll take decades to reverse (if ever).

What “contentious student loan forgiveness battles” would there be to oversee? The Trump administration certainly isn’t going to continue Biden’s efforts and there’s zero chance of a Republican congress passing anything. Unless they’re planning to somehow go after people who had their loans forgiven already, seems a dead issue.

I can absolutely see them trying to claw back debt that has already been forgiven. Hell, they’ll probably try and get people to pay all the waived interest from the pandemic.

This is all they do. Install people who have been purposely, and deservedly, told no before. Everyone super unqualified.

On the contrary: every single one of them is eminently qualified… as a saboteur. Trump couldn’t pick worse people for the jobs if he were doing it on purpose, because he is doing it on purpose.
