LOL I hadn’t heard of that. They didn’t just enter a polling station with their faces covered and fake names, they actually voted in lieu of several other existing people, in several polling stations. Even setting aside the part about giving all the proof they could possibly give on camera, they would have basically proved that justice is slow when they eventually got caught. News at 11.

Edit: they applied for ballots my bad. Still illegal.

I haven’t read anything that says they actually got to the point where they cast any fraudulent votes (or even obtained any ballots). But it turns out the law is quite clear that you can’t impersonate anyone as part of the voting process, even if you don’t actually cast a ballot. He’s cooked.

Oh yeah my bad, they applied for ballots. That being said “Minnesota law clearly states that no individual shall intentionally misrepresent the individual’s identity in applying for a ballot” so yeah.

It happens, especially when rushed, distracted, failing eyesight, interruptions, etc. No worries!

In before it’s used as proof that democrats are only stopping attempted fraud when it’s republican votes and that’s why the election doesn’t count.

Voters are only allowed to take pictures of their own ballots. No selfies are allowed in the voting booth or in that general area. The press is only allowed to film a limited part of the polling area with no voting booths or ballots in view.

This depends on location. There was a thing a few years ago of people taking selfies with their ballots and posting them publicly. This becomes a very serious concern when the secret ballot - and preventing external pressures to vote a certain way - comes into question.

Some places consider it free speech to announce (and prove) who you’re voting for; others view it as an invasion of the ballot box. I don’t believe it’s ever been reviewed by the courts.

I guarantee that if some idiot walked in live streaming, they’d just let them vote and get them out the door.

Hell, two idiots literally did that while dressed as Muslims and doing horrible fake accents like a week or two ago for early voting. They’re getting felonies because they just kept early voting under other people’s names, but they filmed the whole fucking thing including intros that said they’re doing election fraud. And then put it online.

        It’s literally the article you’re commenting on…

But what’s even crazier to me is people just assume any of these rules will be enforced.

There’s an absolutely huge difference between:

        1. Not allowed to do that

        2. Someone stopping you from doing that

And by 2026 we should all understand that, because that’s the game the wealthy and powerful have been playing for generations.

It’s bigger than selfies while voting, our next president needs to operate under “try and stop me” if they want any kind of shot at fixing stuff.
