Summary

Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Defense Secretary, faces scrutiny over a 2017 sexual assault allegation.

A complaint to Trump’s transition team details an alleged incident at a California Republican conference, investigated by Monterey police but resulting in no charges. The accuser signed a nondisclosure agreement, and Hegseth’s lawyer denies wrongdoing.

The transition team is reportedly frustrated over inadequate vetting.

Trump has expressed support for Hegseth, despite concerns his confirmation could face resistance in the Senate, mirroring controversies surrounding other Trump appointees, including Matt Gaetz.

There was something off about his obviously intentionally egregious picks, and what you say makes a lot of sense.

In 2016, Trump was an outsider with a few allies. 2016-2020 he bullied anti-Trump republicans like Kinzinger and Cheney, making examples out of them and getting a lot of candidates, governors and House members to kiss the ring. By 2020 on Jan. 6th when it came time to object to certification and stage the coup, the House was deeply infected by MAGA loyalists, but the Senate was mostly immune (with a few exceptions, like perennially spineless Cruz and Hawley).

Now in 2024, the Senate is showing signs of pushback but Trump knows he has momentum from a likely complete House takeover and his election “mandate.” He’s making a statement: “submit.”

Except for the fact that he was a harsh critic of Trump. Was. But the message was loud and clear. “This is a man who once compared me to Hitler. He is now my lap dog.

How many qons has he turned into little lap dogs? Lindsey and Marco come to mind.

I’m pretty sure a lot of Republican politicians absolutely fucking hate donvict with the intensity of a billion suns. But they have to work with this dumbass because his base are so very stupid.

If anything, I fully expect this cemented him as the pick. If you have any respect for other people, you’re a liability for them.

Doesn’t surprise me at all that they’re sweeping it under the rug.

As some point Trump is going to have to pick someone who hasn’t committed sexual assault right? Like, just statistically speaking…

Statistically speaking he shouldn’t be anywhere near the presidency so all bets are off

Have you seen the list of registered republican sex offenders?

This person has made it their project to catalogue as many examples as they could find over the last 6 years. It has grown significantly since I saw it last. I hope you have a few hours available if you expect to read all this, and some anti nausea medication wouldn’t hurt.

Rest assured that Trump has absolutely no shortage of choices whatsoever.

Isn’t that what all Trump voters voted for? A government that supports men rapists? Or were they voting for more graft and illegal bribes?

Who writes this shit? Did they already forget the SCOTUS appointment under similar circumstances? The bar isn’t just lowered. There isn’t one anymore.

It’s almost like donvict and his thugs do the very opposite of vetting candidates.

If it’s just about “owning the libs” and picking people he sees on the TV…job well done? I guess?

    Anyone else feeling “owned”?

What’s a bit of sexual assault and fraud between friends? A long as you’re loyal. How’s that monarchy working out US? Remember why you gave it up?
