Not that his base will ever care about this, but I also like that the side effect of the closing proves that he doesn’t give one wit about the institution or historic aspect of the building itself. The only reason he offered up the money was to slap his name on the front. That’s it.

    Pathetic.

Don’t stop there, shut down the entire fucking thing. Halt all construction/renovation of white house, ballrooms, centers, pools and what have you until we balance the budget, this is all superfluous garbage.

yep. the capitol is going to look like shit for decades because fuckwit tore everything down assuming everyone would go along with his shitty vanity projects. the reflecting pool, the lawn, the rose garden, everything will need restoration and will take decades to afford while we’re repairing the economy.

nice job fiscal conservatives, you fuckwits

        fiscal conservatives

All that has ever really meant, in reality, was siphoning as much money from the bottom of the pyramid to the top, while denying as many services as possible to the bottom of the pyramid.

In other words, everything the republicons claim to hold as a principle is a total lie.

I’m partial to using “the Mierdas Touch.”

I swear the day this p.o.s dies flags should be ordered to be flown twice as high, not half mast and it should be a national holiday.

I think so many cons are not even ready for how much celebration there will be.

This is the same set of morons that went around getting people fired over repeating what Kirk actually said after he was killed. They have no emotional capacity for witnessing so many celebrating donnie’s passing. The meltdowns will be epic.

I’ve said it before, but I’m buying a flag pole and a flag for just the occasion. After a couple weeks I’ll take it down and probably never use it again. I might even put some of those cheap pinwheels around the base to add some flair.

I, for one, look forward to the invention of levitating flags. Or are you proposing people find a way to make their existing flagpoles taller? Most of us would need some weeks notice for that kind of work, you know.

I was thinking extending the pole, but you’re right that would take time! It’s ok though because the celebration would last weeks and weeks :)

    Assuming things get better…

Most people aren’t paying attention to any of this most of the time.

They should be, lack of attention is how you get this shit, but they don’t.

We need to overhaul democracy to account for this because I think the founders assumed a pissed off and highly involved populace when they wrote the constitution. They didn’t assume a social media addled distracted populace.

The older I get, the more I think the founders probably thought rich white landowners would keep the nation in check. I have less and less faith in their work. It was good for its time, but we have advanced in knowledge since then.

We did advance. There have been 27 amendments.

We need to actually to enforce them. It’s been the same fight since the 14th amendment passed. It’s that simple.

People prefer to eat food and take care of their kids and families, it’s crazy

you know what I’m talking about… you’re posting on Lemmy instead of rioting, after all.

… even if you’re not in the USA, your country is neck deep and feeding the beast.

Yep. It’s like obesity. We were the first nation to have an explosio of obesity because our food became so cheap (and much of it low quality in the sense of nutrition), and so many other nations are facing that now, you don’t hear people giving us quite as much shit as they used to. Funny that.

The rise of fascism is also global. I just hope they use our failure to prevent their own. But meanwhile I’ve been told to fuck off because I haven’t chosen to lay down my life (which we only get this one of) which wouldn’t help anyway.

I understand anti-US sentiment, but a lot of these people coming out of the woodwork to shit all over us should really take a look in their own houses, too. (Also, for the record, the US does suck)

In two years they’ll argue it’s too run-down to restore. They’ll tear it down right before the elections, if we have them. If they win again it’ll be rebuilt as the Trump Center. If they lose, they’ll have pissed off the liberals anyway

after they started losing shows and performers, wasn’t one of their earlier plans to close for (dipshit directed) ‘‘renovations’’ anyway then since the center wasn’t going to be active
